FFEL Resources

We have published most outputs from our events on our private online community – this is free to register at https://www.skool.com/future-farming-east-lothian-6539/about. We also publish relevant news and other stories on here.

A selection of our event outputs have been published on our public YouTube platform. Ed Horton’s excellent presentation on moving to a lower input, more regenerative approach is publicly available at:

We have created two new communities for FFEL members to join where they can contact other members and share news and information. There are two because they have different strengths.

The FFEL WhatsApp Group is ideal for exchanging shorter messages that have a limited ‘shelf-life’. To join either email tess@eastlothianclimatehub.org or complete the form at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeKKZT5oZfEPQp_BZ8sqaUhX7SEI70t-HjFgTkYNLbDMNAOxA/viewform?pli=1 to request access. We can then send you an invitation to join. This group is exclusive to those directly involved in managing land in East Lothian. We are unable to open this up more widely. By joining you agree to share your mobile phone number with other FFEL members linked to the WhatsApp group. It will not be shared any more widely.

There is also an online community on the SKOOL platform where those involved directly and indirectly in land management in East Lothian can exchange longer messages and other information, engage in discussions, comment on other messages, submit news and meet other members. It is very easy to use. To access you need to register online and we will authorise you – it is deliberately managed as a private group for members only. It is available at  https://www.skool.com/future-farming-east-lothian-6539. SKOOL is widely used globally – there is a SKOOL app for your mobile phone that gives you fully functional access.

Based on feedback from our launch event, we have located all those farms that have expressed an interest in FFEL and mapped them. Due to privacy concerns the map opposite is fictional and does not represent the locations of over 60 farms to date. This enables us to ensure we have reached farmers across the full extent of the county whether they are farming moorland on the Lammermuirs or smaller farms on the coastal plain.

For those FFEL members interested in understanding how they could make contact with other farmers in their vicinity in order to create a localised cluster, for example to share machinery or look at a broader landscape scale project, we can use this mapping to enable introductions where needed.
